#How to use these numbers

  • Write for the shortlist. Buyers pick a winner from their first shortlist 95% of the time, and they contact sellers late. Founder posts are how you get on that list before the first call.
  • Post knowledge, invite comments. LinkedIn's growth figures point to knowledge posts and comment reading. A post with a specific opinion from your work will travel further than a generic summary.
  • Put spend behind proven posts. Promote posts that already perform as Thought Leader Ads or short video aimed at named accounts, and judge them on pipeline over several quarters, not on likes.

#Methodology

I included only figures I could trace to the organization that produced them: LinkedIn and Microsoft disclosures, named research firms (Pew, Edelman, 6sense, Forrester, Gartner, WARC, Dreamdata), peer-reviewed or university research, and news outlets reporting company statements. Where the original page could not be opened, I used a named publication that quoted it and cited that publication. Each figure carries the date its source published it. Vendor studies are labeled as such. Popular "reach multiplier" figures with no original study behind them were left out. All links were last checked on 15 October 2026.
