How the data was captured

On 24 October 2026, between 19:40 and 20:07 IST, I asked each engine “best <category> for startups 2026” once per category, with no follow-up questions. Google AI Mode was opened in a signed-in Chrome profile in India; Perplexity in a signed-in free account with saved personalisation. The text was read from the rendered answer with a script, and nothing was inferred.

A brand counts as named when the answer presented it as an option, and its position is the order of first appearance. Cited sources are every source in Google AI Mode’s source panel and Perplexity’s Links tab, recorded as domain and path. Perplexity has no answer for Marketing automation and AI meeting notes apps after the free account reached its search limit. One run per engine is a snapshot, not a ranking: a second run can name different brands. The full dataset is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0: download the JSON, or read the analysis in Who AI recommends.

Questions about the checker

Which AI engines does the checker cover?

Google AI Mode and Perplexity. Each was asked "best <category> for startups 2026" once per category on 24 October 2026. Perplexity has no answer for Marketing automation and AI meeting notes apps, because the free account hit its search limit; the checker says so instead of filling the gap.

Does the checker query ChatGPT or Perplexity live?

No. It reads a fixed dataset captured on 24 October 2026, so every result shows that date. AI answers change between runs and between users, which is why the free AI visibility check runs fresh queries for your own buyers' questions.

How does the company name match work?

Your company name is compared, ignoring case and extra spaces, with every brand each engine named as a pick and every brand it mentioned in another role. A different spelling, such as a product name instead of the company name, will not match, so try both.

What does "named" mean here?

A brand counts as named when the answer presented it as an option: a table row, a heading, a bold pick or a decision-rule pick. Position is the order in which those picks first appeared. Brands mentioned only for context are listed separately as mentions.

What happens to my email?

It is stored with the category and company you entered so I can follow up on this report, and nothing else. There is no newsletter sign-up. If the form fails, email shruti@wisemango.io and I will send the report.
